Powys School Lockdown Lifted After Police Find Reported Blade Was Garden Tool

Police determined the reported 'bladed article' was a garden tool with no threat to the school.

Overview

  • Dyfed Powys Police received a report around 3pm of a male on Dyffryn Road in Llandrindod Wells seen with what looked like a bladed article.
  • Officers were deployed and, due to the school's proximity, Ysgol Calon Cymru’s Llandrindod Wells campus was placed in a precautionary lockdown.
  • Within about 40 minutes police identified the individual, established the item was a garden tool, and secured it in a shed.
  • The lockdown was lifted and pupils left the campus safely, with police confirming no threats were made to the school.
  • Powys Council said the incident occurred outside school boundaries and that the lockdown was requested by police, as the school told parents students would be released when it was safe.
