POSCO International Pilots Onchain Tokenization of Live Trade Receivables

The test seeks to create single, transferable digital invoices that carry compliance rules and could shorten multi-day reconciliation if adopted in production.

Overview

  • POSCO International and LG CNS announced on Monday that they have placed real commercial receivables from POSCO’s overseas operations onto the Injective Layer‑1 blockchain in a live pilot.
  • The pilot mints a token for each invoice that records ownership, compliance metadata and settlement instructions so approved parties can view the same onchain record.
  • LG CNS handles enterprise integration and brings prior Bank of Korea CBDC and tokenization experience while Injective supplies the public Layer‑1 ledger for issuance, transfer and settlement.
  • The partners say they plan to consider moving the test to live production later in 2026 but have not shared transaction volumes, processing metrics, participating banks, contract addresses or a firm production date.
  • The experiment follows other South Korean corporate blockchain moves and arrives as the tokenized real‑world asset market is about $35 billion today with Citi projecting much larger growth by 2030, which could expand working‑capital and financing options for companies and banks.
