Portland Manhunt Continues After Two Officers Shot, One Released From Hospital

Detectives released suspect photos to spur tips.

Overview

  • Police say the officers were shot around 8:20 p.m. Monday on Northeast Clackamas Street between 16th and 17th avenues after responding to a report of a person threatening someone with a weapon.
  • The suspect remains at large; images show a white male in his mid-30s with facial hair wearing a black baseball cap, black jacket over a gray hoodie, black pants and black shoes, last seen with a black backpack and a green shopping bag.
  • Investigators say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous and is believed to have a knife and a handgun.
  • A large tactical response involving SERT, crisis negotiators, air support, drones and K-9s locked down the area with shelter-in-place orders before the initial search ended without an arrest early Tuesday.
  • Officials said there was no exchange of gunfire; one officer was discharged from the hospital Tuesday and the other remains in stable condition, and police are seeking surveillance video from NE 15th–19th avenues between Broadway and Multnomah recorded from 7 p.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday.
