Port Washington Halts Overnight Outdoor Work at Vantage Data Center Starting April 18

Officials moved to curb disruptions after sustained resident complaints about overnight disturbances.

Overview

  • The Plan Commission voted unanimously on March 19 to limit exterior construction to 6 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, ending routine overnight shifts.
  • Deliveries are restricted to 6 a.m.–8 p.m., non-security lighting must be reduced after 8:30 p.m., and Sunday work requires prior City Engineer approval no more than once per month from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The changes take effect April 18 to provide a transition window for contractors, and Vantage says it is coordinating with the city to adjust schedules.
  • Continuous interior work will still be allowed once buildings are fully enclosed and reviewed by the City Engineer, with 24-hour weekdays and work permitted until 11:59 p.m. on Saturdays.
  • The nearly 700-acre campus broke ground in December and is slated to house OpenAI and Oracle by 2028, as nearby residents remain divided over whether the new limits go far enough.
