Porsche Adds Optional E‑Shift, Faster Software and Track Kit to 2027 Taycan

The update aims to restore driving emotion with a virtual eight‑gear system, add faster software and increase real‑world range for certain Taycan configurations.

Overview

  • Porsche published the 2027 Taycan updates and made the cars orderable Wednesday while keeping the model range and base pricing unchanged.
  • The new E‑Shift system is standard on the Turbo GT and offered as an option for roughly €1,000 on other Taycan models, using paddles to simulate eight gear steps with a virtual rev counter, torque interruption, simulated engine braking and adaptive artificial engine sound.
  • Porsche overhauled its Porsche Communication Management so it has up to five times the processing power, adds a KI‑assisted Voice Pilot, improved navigation, full over‑the‑air updates and faster wireless phone charging up to 25 W.
  • Range and efficiency gains come from new low rolling‑resistance summer tires for rear‑drive Taycans that add about 20 km and from combining those tires with the Performance Battery Plus to reach up to 700 km WLTP in specific configurations, noting WLTP is a standardized test figure that can differ from real‑world range.
  • For track buyers Porsche offers a Manthey‑developed Turbo GT kit that triples downforce at some speeds, raises system power from about 580 to 600 kW and increases peak discharge current to 1,300 A, with the kit available factory‑fitted or as a retrofit and aimed at Nordschleife performance.
