Overview
- The Junta Constructora announced that Pope Leo XIV will preside over a Solemn Mass and bless the Tower of Jesus Christ on June 10, 2026, the 100th anniversary of Antoni Gaudí’s death.
- The basilica says the tower was structurally completed when the final piece of its cross was installed on February 20, 2026, bringing the Sagrada Família to a declared height of 172.5 metres.
- Organizers plan seating for more than 4,000 guests inside the basilica and 4,000 invitations for public viewing on Carrer de la Marina, with 3,080 of those outside invitations set aside for parish communities and 920 for institutional guests.
- The commemorative program includes a floral offering at Gaudí’s tomb, a 7:30 pm Solemn Mass with music by Catalan choirs, a public citywide live broadcast, and a €3.2 million patronage-funded budget for the events.
- Technical finishing work remains underway—internal cladding, lift installation and removal of crane bracing—and officials say the June 10 ceremony will mark the site’s transition from an active construction project to a completed centerpiece for the Gaudí Year.
