Pollster Projects Reform UK Majorities in Norfolk and Suffolk
The model signals a near collapse for local Conservatives with Greens poised to lead Norwich without overall control.
Overview
- PollCheck, which released projections Tuesday, puts Reform on 56 of Norfolk’s 84 divisions with Conservatives holding only Thetford East, which would flip a council now run by the party with 51 seats.
- In Suffolk, under new boundaries that cut the council from 75 to 70 members, the model gives Reform 52 seats and leaves Conservatives on about two councillors.
- For Norwich City Council, PollCheck expects the Greens to become the largest group while the chamber stays under no overall control, and it forecasts no Reform wins in city wards.
- Local elections are back on for May 7 after a government U-turn, with Norfolk candidate nominations closing April 9 and Suffolk voter registration open until April 20.
- Great Yarmouth MP Rupert Lowe’s Restore Britain, running as Great Yarmouth First with 12 candidates, could split votes in that area and nudge results away from the model’s forecast.
