Poll Finds Fewer Than One-Third of Jewish NYC Voters Approve of Mayor Mamdani

The findings underscore deep concern about antisemitism among Jewish New Yorkers.

Overview

  • An advocacy-group survey conducted Feb. 17–28 found 32% of 665 Jewish voters rated Mayor Zohran Mamdani excellent or good and 40% said he is doing a poor job.
  • A large share of respondents said they are concerned about rising antisemitism in the city, and a majority linked that rise to the public normalization of anti-Zionist rhetoric.
  • NYPD data for January through March recorded 143 hate crimes, an increase from a year earlier, and 55% of those incidents targeted Jewish people.
  • The poll reported 84% support for new City Council legislation that creates police buffer zones around houses of worship to keep protests at a safe distance.
  • City officials defended the mayor’s record, highlighting outreach to varied Jewish communities and work on what they described as a first-of-its-kind municipal plan to counter antisemitism.
