Police Stage Rooftop Rescue in Delhi Hotel Fire, Saving Eight as Three Are Injured

A rooftop route from an adjoining building enabled police to reach guests despite the blocked entrance.

Overview

  • The blaze began around 3 am at Hotel Pallavi Palace on Arakashan Road in Paharganj, trapping guests in heavy smoke.
  • Constables Mukul, Feru and Sanjay reached upper floors by crossing from a neighboring rooftop, according to DCP Anant Mittal.
  • Eight people were evacuated and three men — identified as Vinod, Vasant Kumar and Hitesh Kumar — were hospitalized, with one in critical condition.
  • The Delhi Fire Services dispatched 11 tenders after a 3:05 am call and brought the fire under control by 4:25 am with support from BSES and ambulance teams.
  • Investigators say the fire started in the ground-floor reception and a preliminary inquiry points to an electrical short circuit, with the probe continuing.
