Police Seize 433 Kg Cannabis in Jharkhand, 21 Kg Marijuana in Delhi in Separate Raids
Investigators are tracing supply links across states under the NDPS Act.
Overview
- Acting on a tip-off, Lohardaga police stopped a truck near the Cutcherry More railway overbridge and recovered 433 kg of cannabis worth over Rs 2.16 crore packed in 154 packets.
- Police said the consignment was bound for Uttar Pradesh, and two accused from Saran in Bihar and Gonda in UP were arrested and sent to judicial custody.
- In east Delhi’s Khichripur, officers intercepted a scooter-borne delivery and seized over 21 kg of marijuana and 46 g of smack valued at about Rs 12 lakh, impounding the vehicle.
- The Delhi suspects, Firoz Khan, 41, and Akbar, 36, both residents of Ghaziabad, were detained on the intervening night of March 11 and 12 following a tip-off.
- Police said Khan has prior drug-trafficking arrests and a booking under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters Act as NDPS cases proceed to map supply links.
