Overview
- Aran Sadler, a County Durham rider in his 30s, came off a Kawasaki ZX636 during SuperSport A Race 1 at Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough at about 3:20 pm on Saturday and was pronounced dead at the scene.
- North Yorkshire Police have opened an inquiry and are asking anyone who saw the crash or has phone or social media video to contact MCIT@northyorkshire.police.uk or call 101 quoting reference 12260064669.
- Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it deployed several resources around 3:35 pm, and medical staff treated Sadler on site before confirming his death.
- Organisers paused Saturday’s schedule, then said racing continued Sunday after consultation with Sadler’s family, as tributes from Oliver’s Mount Racing, the 243 Road Racing Association and local figures praised him as a multiple-time champion and valued paddock member.
- Oliver’s Mount is a 2.43-mile natural road circuit that opens the UK road-racing season, which helps explain the Spring Cup’s large entry list and the presence of experienced road racers like Sadler.
