Police Seek Driver After Tonnes of Potatoes Make Bavarian Roads Slippery

Crews have cleared a 12-kilometer trail of potatoes to restore traffic safety.

Overview

  • An unidentified driver lost a large load of potatoes across roads in the Freising and Dachau districts, police said.
  • Vehicles that drove through the spill crushed the potatoes and left several stretches dirty and slick.
  • Volunteer fire brigades from Leonhardsbuch, Hohenbercha, and Kollbach cleared the route in about two hours.
  • The municipal road crew from Zolling inspected the cleaned sections and reopened the affected roads.
  • Police have not identified the vehicle or driver and are asking witnesses to contact the Freising station.
