Overview
- The probe began after a June 19 Park Police stop of Eugene Horsch led to his arrest on weapons and narcotics counts and the discovery of counterfeit federal credentials.
- On August 12 and 13 investigators said videos and images recovered from a hard drive at 417 Chew Avenue appear to show Maribel Fresses and Gabriella Amarando alive in the house and later appearing deceased.
- The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office told police it would believe the individuals in the images are dead but said it cannot legally declare deaths or determine cause without recovered remains.
- Searches of the property have produced a vast trove of material, including more than 600,000 images, 70,000 videos, five urns believed to hold cremated remains, dozens of chemical containers and as many as 95 search warrants used to examine the site and remove a sewer lateral.
- Investigators from local and federal agencies continue painstaking digital forensics, chemical testing and excavation, no homicide charges have been filed, and police are urging anyone with information to call the department tip line.
