Police Release Sketch and Photo in Arlington Heights Lake Attack

Police released the images to prompt public tips to locate the bicyclist who assaulted an 18-year-old woman.

Overview

  • The assault happened Sunday near Windsor Drive and Jonquil Circle when a man on a bicycle approached an 18-year-old woman, pushed her to the ground and began choking her before she fought him off and flagged down a motorist.
  • The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening facial bruises and was later reunited with her family after she reported the attack to police.
  • On Thursday, June 11 police released a composite sketch and a surveillance image recovered from a nearby business and began a wider canvass for additional camera footage.
  • The victim described the suspect as a Black man about 6 feet tall with an average-to-muscular build, long braided hair tied back, round-framed glasses, wearing black and riding a bicycle; he was last seen heading south toward Palatine Road and a camera captured a bicyclist on Buffalo Grove Road near Dundee Road.
  • No arrest has been announced and investigators are urging residents and businesses to review late-evening security footage and to call 911 or the Arlington Heights Police Department at 847-368-5300 with tips.
