Police Release Image of Stephen Park, 78, After Fatal Brighouse Crash as Three Suspects Are Released on Bail

Detectives seek dashcam footage to help reconstruct what happened on Brookfoot Lane.

Overview

  • West Yorkshire Police said the rider came off his Harley Davidson on Brookfoot Lane in Southowram near Whitehall Stone Sales Quarry at about 12:24pm on January 31 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Investigators identified three other vehicles linked to the incident: a silver Ford Transit van with livery, a grey Audi A1, and a silver Mercedes SLK.
  • Police believe the van and two cars were involved in an earlier incident before encountering Mr Park as they travelled toward Brighouse while he was heading the other way.
  • The drivers—a 35-year-old man in the van, a 32-year-old woman in the Audi, and a 39-year-old man in the Mercedes—were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and have been released on bail.
  • Officers issued a renewed appeal for witnesses and relevant footage, asking people to contact the Major Collision and Enquiry Team on 101 quoting log 0696 of January 31.
