Overview
- A lone woman was attacked on a Bakerloo line train between Waterloo and Lambeth North on Saturday, July 11, when a man exposed himself, dragged her to the floor and tried to rape her before she fought him off and fled at Lambeth North.
- British Transport Police have released CCTV images in the Bakerloo case and asked the public to text 61016 with reference 948 of 11 July or call 0800 40 50 40, with anonymous tips taken by Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
- Officers say the suspect stayed on the train and got off at Elephant and Castle and that enquiries trace possible presence at Oxford Circus before the attack and Piccadilly Circus afterwards while one line of enquiry is that he may be homeless.
- Separately, BTP released images for a June 21 Hanger Lane station assault in which a man is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a woman in a subway; he is described as South Asian, mid-to-late 20s, about 5ft 7in, wearing a light-blue shirt, light trousers and sunglasses.
- Campaigners and the London Assembly point to rising sexual offences on the Underground—BTP recorded 595 Tube sexual offences in 2024–25—and are urging coordinated action and clearer reporting and policing after many cases yield no suspect or charge.
