Police Probe Rescue-Worker Impostor in Mechernich After Seizure of More Than 300 Items

Authorities say the 61-year-old used an illicit emergency radio to reach a March callout, arriving with blue lights and a siren.

Overview

  • Kreispolizei Euskirchen searched the suspect's home on October 2 and collected over 300 items as evidence.
  • Seized materials included police and fire uniforms, fake service IDs, digital radios, medical devices, blank-firing guns, batons, defensive sprays and filled patient forms.
  • Investigators are checking whether the patient forms are genuine and assessing if additional incidents are connected to the suspect.
  • Police say the man does not belong to any rescue service and is not authorized to use the BOS digital radio system.
  • The suspect was previously convicted of impersonation, and he allegedly tried to join March patient care with a privately obtained EKG device after speeding to the scene with signals.
