Overview
- A mauve Samsung phone belonging to Celine Cremer was located by volunteer Tony Hage during a privately organised search near Philosopher Falls and verified on scene by its serial number.
- Tasmania Police confirmed the device is Cremer’s and said it is undergoing forensic examination.
- Investigators say phone data and its location support a theory that Cremer left the marked track to head directly toward her car as daylight faded, likely dropping the phone and becoming disoriented in dense terrain.
- Police will formally work alongside private searchers and SES to re-search the area and the likely route from the phone toward the car park when conditions allow, with operations paused due to rain, hail and possible snow.
- Cremer was last seen on June 17, 2023, and despite extensive searches in harsh winter conditions her only confirmed trace until now was her car at the trailhead, making the phone the first concrete lead in more than two years.
