Overview
- A 51-year-old man was found unresponsive around 7:30am on Sunday on the path between Centre Park Drive and Coatbank Street beside Tesco Extra in Coatbridge and was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Police Scotland is treating the death as unexplained, conducting extensive enquiries, supporting the man's family, and preparing a report for the Procurator Fiscal.
- Officers remain in the Coatbridge area and are asking anyone with information or concerns to approach them or contact 101, with anonymous reports available via Crimestoppers.
- In a separate incident at about 12:45am Sunday on Wigan Road in Bolton, a red Seat Leon collided with a Citroën C4 Picasso, leaving four people dead and five passengers injured and taken to hospital.
- Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit has maintained a scene on Wigan Road and is appealing for witnesses as well as dashcam or CCTV footage.
