Overview
- A member of the public reported Kenneth John Giles’ Nissan Patrol abandoned near Nunierra by Hackett Creek along the Carnarvon–Mullewa Road.
- Police found alcohol and medication in the 4WD but no firearms, and the vehicle had fuel, was not bogged, and showed no mechanical issues.
- Investigators believe the car was left there before ex‑tropical cyclone Mitchell’s rains, which washed away tracks and scents.
- Line searches began within a 300‑metre radius and are expanding, with officers also using drones and rechecking nearby stations, sheds, water tanks and windmills.
- Giles was not located at the site and police say it is unknown if he is alive, though they note he is an experienced bushman and ask the public to report any information.
