Police Federation Chief Executive Leaves After City of London Fraud Inquiry

The development deepens scrutiny of governance, financial decisions, treatment of whistleblowers at the body representing 145,000 officers.

Overview

  • City of London Police arrested Mukund Krishna and two other men in March as part of a probe into alleged fraud by abuse of position, and Krishna was suspended from his role pending the inquiry.
  • The Police Federation confirmed that Krishna’s employment ended on 31 May 2026 and that his basic salary was paid only up to that date with no further payments planned.
  • All three suspects have been re-bailed by police until September as the City of London force continues what it calls a complex and active investigation.
  • Krishna has publicly denied the allegations and said he expects to be exonerated while the federation says it is cooperating fully with investigators and will begin a process to appoint a permanent chief executive.
  • The case comes as an employment tribunal alleging sexist conduct by Krishna continues and follows past legal defeats and a major data breach that together left the federation with large financial exposure, raising fresh questions about oversight and accountability for the organisation.
