Overview
- Police in Liverpool, West Kirby and Swansea rolled out short-term powers Wednesday to break up groups and search for weapons following youth disorder and knife-related incidents.
- South Wales Police said the Swansea dispersal zone, active until 9.30am Friday, led to two arrests, an illegal e-bike seizure and a community protection warning that bars one person from returning under Section 35 rules that allow exclusions for up to 48 hours.
- In Liverpool city centre, a Section 60 stop-and-search zone with Section 60AA powers to require removal of face coverings followed a 15-year-old being stabbed at Albert Dock and a separate Chavasse Park assault captured on video.
- Detectives arrested a 16-year-old on suspicion of affray over the Chavasse Park attack and released him on bail with conditions that exclude him from the city centre while enquiries continue.
- Merseyside’s West Kirby dispersal order, which lapses at 3.59pm Friday, builds on an existing Public Spaces Protection Order as residents and traders describe school-holiday flashpoints and police urge parents to check where their children are.
