Overview
- Police National carried out a judicially authorized search of a Malagón property on June 30 and dismantled a multi-site cannabis operation that included outdoor plantings, indoor rooms and a flooded 200 m² subterranean installation.
- Officers seized 841 live cannabis plants (about 50 kg), 150 dried plants, €6,640 in cash and two weapons including a modified air rifle and a blank-firing pistol.
- Investigators found dozens of animals living in unhygienic conditions with decomposing carcasses and hundreds of dead chickens; rescuers saved 14 dogs, three calves, two roe deer and three walabíes.
- Regional veterinary services and the Castilla-La Mancha Consejería arranged emergency care and rehoming: dogs to Malagón shelter, corzos to a game farm in Almodóvar del Campo and walabíes to Koki zoo in Toledo.
- Two people were detained and formally imputed on five suspected crimes covering drug trafficking, electricity fraud (estimated at about €10,000), illegal weapons possession, crimes against flora and fauna, and animal maltreatment while the judicial investigation continues.
