Overview
- NSW Police said Thursday they had charged members of a second alleged “kill crew” over the 2025 abduction and killing of Sydney mother Thi Kim Tran.
- Detectives allege the crew waited at a rural Victorian property to kill her husband, then Sydney-based offenders abducted and killed Ms Tran when he did not appear.
- Police say a group forced their way into the Bankstown home on April 17, 2025, struck an eight-year-old boy with a baseball bat, and took Ms Tran at gunpoint before her body was found in a burnt-out car in Beverley Hills about an hour later.
- Investigators have arrested five men aged 18 to 30 between December 16, 2025 and March 16, 2026 in Monterey, at Sydney Airport, Silverwater and Lithgow, and courts refused them bail on charges including murder and participating in a criminal group.
- ABC reports police say Ms Tran was shot and that her husband earlier received messages including a photo of her bound and gagged, which suggests a coercion tactic used in organised-crime disputes; all accused remain before the courts and are presumed innocent.
