Overview
- Police on Tuesday executed attachment orders for a residential house in Anantnag linked to Aamir Hassan Mir and shops plus a dhaba in Kathua linked to Sudesh Mehta, with a combined market value of about ₹2.25 crore.
- Officials said the Anantnag action used Section 68(F) in connection with FIR No. 17/2026 at Shergari police station and the Kathua attachments were carried out under provisions including sections 68 A.2(c), E and 68-F of the NDPS Act.
- The Kathua proceedings were overseen by SSP Mohita Sharma and attended by SDPO, the SHO and officials from the revenue, public works and R&B departments while the Anantnag attachment was completed before an executive magistrate, and both actions bar sale or transfer of the properties.
- Police framed the seizures as part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan and appealed for public tips, and local residents in Kathua welcomed the move as a step to dismantle traffickers’ financial networks.
- Under the NDPS Act the attachments are provisional freezes that hold alleged proceeds of crime while investigations and court adjudication continue, a tactic authorities say is intended to deprive drug networks of funds and revenue sources.
