Police Arrest Suspect After CTA Bus Driver Escapes Knifepoint Hijacking

CTA leaders are urging felony charges after the overnight attack.

Overview

  • A man pulled a knife on a No. 53 Pulaski bus early Wednesday in the 2400 block of North Pulaski, according to police.
  • The 57-year-old driver got away by climbing out a window near the 900 block of North Clark Street, and no injuries were reported.
  • Officers took the suspect into custody near the 100 block of East Chestnut Street in the Gold Coast before 3:20 a.m., and charges are pending.
