- Polestar privately showed the Formula 2030 concept at its Gothenburg HQ on Monday as a first look for investors, retailers and select customers and plans a global public reveal during the Polestar 4 media programme later this year.
- The company says the concept preserves signature details like the Dual Blade headlights while evolving exterior, interior and material choices to feed into the next Polestar 2 (planned for 2027) and the Polestar 7 (planned for 2028).
- Polestar framed Formula 2030 as part of a wider 2030 strategy intended to drive growth and reach profitability by 2030 but did not publish specific financial targets at the event.
- The design announcement arrives while Polestar reports weaker first-half 2026 top-line results, a near-30% share-price drop and ongoing operating losses, and after the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security declined authorization for Polestar to sell 2027-model-year vehicles in the U.S.
- Polestar has rebuilt short-term finance support from Geely and Volvo Cars and is racing new models into production — Polestar 4 orders have opened and Polestar 5 deliveries are imminent — with Europe still supplying about three-quarters of sales and U.S. market access now sharply constrained.
