Polaroid Releases Limited-Edition Pokémon Instant Cameras for 30th Anniversary

The collection uses Polaroid’s Gen 3 camera platforms and themed film to make physical prints into collectible keepsakes.

Overview

  • Polaroid and The Pokémon Company announced the Polaroid x Pokémon line Tuesday, Aug. 18, comprising three special-edition cameras, Pokémon-themed instant film, and matching accessories.
  • The three cameras are two Polaroid Go Gen 3 designs styled as Pikachu and Sylveon at $99.99 each and a Now Gen 3 Poké Ball edition at $139.99, with film and accessories priced from $14.99 to $24.99.
  • Preorders open Aug. 25 in the U.S., the U.K., and Canada through polaroid.com and the Pokémon Center, with a wider global release planned for early October and minor reports differing on Oct. 5 versus Oct. 6.
  • The collection’s changes are primarily aesthetic: cameras keep Gen 3 performance while added touches include Poké Ball–shaped shutter buttons, character straps, custom darkslides, and printed film frames.
  • Framed as a 30th‑anniversary drop, the limited run taps a wider revival of analog photography and creates a tension for buyers between using themed film for photos and keeping packs unopened as collectibles.
