Polar Air Mass Fuels Hazardous Winds and Rain Across Mexico, Galicia and Tucumán

Forecasters expect a gradual easing later, with daytime temperatures recovering as rainfall tapers.

Overview

  • Mexico’s weather service says Cold Front No. 33 is no longer passing but its polar air mass still drives showers, strong winds and morning–night cold across wide areas.
  • The Norte persists in the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec with 50–70 km/h winds and 80–100 km/h gusts, plus 3–4 m waves; long‑period swell of 3.5–4.5 m affects the west coast of Baja California.
  • SMN forecasts 5–25 mm showers for Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas, isolated light rain elsewhere, highs of 35–40°C in coastal lowlands and frosts down to −5 to 0°C in highland zones.
  • AEMET‑based Sunday updates for Galicia point to persistent cloud, very high rain probabilities through the afternoon and strong southerly gusts roughly 45–61 km/h across towns including Barro, Cangas, A Estrada, Marín and others.
  • Argentina’s SMN reports Tucumán remains unstable with intermittent rain and a cooler day near 26°C, with forecasts indicating warmer conditions and renewed storm chances later.
