Poland’s Offshore Wind Advances: Baltic Power Completes Monopiles as Bałtyk 2 & 3 Launch Offshore Works

The next critical step is weather-sensitive offshore cabling.

Overview

  • Baltic Power has installed all 78 foundation elements, with 60 of 78 transition pieces fitted and 30 Vestas V236-15 MW turbines in place.
  • Two of four export cables at Baltic Power are installed, onshore electrical works exceed 90% completion, and the service base is operational.
  • Baltic Power targets late 2026 operations, with project director Jens Poulsen noting that winter conditions could delay offshore cable installation.
  • Equinor and Polenergia have started offshore construction for Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3, a 1.44 GW development using 100 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 DD turbines.
  • For Bałtyk 2 & 3, Heerema’s Thialf will start installing monopiles and transition pieces in spring 2026, first power is expected in 2027 with full production in 2028, and the Łeba O&M base is due this year.
