- Play! Pokémon confirmed Wednesday that Pokémon UNITE will not appear at the 2027 Pokémon World Championships and will instead hold a separate tournament called Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo.
- The Aeos Crown will use online regional qualifiers that are tentatively scheduled to start in November 2026 and will invite up to 32 teams to an offline final in Tokyo planned for late March 2027 with travel awards for qualifier winners.
- Play! Pokémon’s published 2027 device policy restricts VGC tournament hardware to Nintendo Switch-family consoles, which could force mobile-only players of Pokémon Champions to obtain a Switch to compete in official VGC events.
