Pokémon GO Fest Returns to Grant Park for 10th-Anniversary Celebration

Organizers say the three-day citywide event will draw large crowds, host rare in-game raids, close nearby streets, and expand activities to multiple Chicago venues.

Overview

  • The festival opened on Friday as a three-day event running June 5–7 in Grant Park with park hours set from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
  • Tickets start at $33 for combined Park and City access, while city-only play is available for $20 per day.
  • Organizers set citywide programming at sites such as Guaranteed Rate Field, Lincoln Park Zoo, the Field Museum and NEWCITY to spread attendees across the city.
  • City officials and organizers announced road closures near Grant Park, including East Jackson Drive and East Balbo Drive from early morning into the evening, to manage crowds and traffic.
  • Coverage emphasized large, family-oriented attendance, cross-generational nostalgia and reports of rare in-game captures, including Mewtwo and a Shiny Mewtwo, while the festival marks the first return to Grant Park since 2019 and recalls the 2017 event’s server problems.
