- The Pokémon Company announced Pokémon Bank will end service on February 25, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. Pacific, after which transfers from Bank to Pokémon HOME will no longer be possible.
- Players are urged to move any Pokémon stored in Bank to Pokémon HOME before the shutdown because transfers are one-way and cannot be reversed.
- Pokémon Bank was delisted when the 3DS eShop closed in 2023, so only users who previously downloaded the app can access it to transfer Pokémon before service ends.
- As partial mitigation, Pokémon HOME will expand storage from 6,000 to 9,000 Pokémon starting in October 2026 and will add linking support for the Switch ports of FireRed and LeafGreen that month.
- The closure severs the official transfer chain for many classic titles and risks leaving decades-old collections inaccessible on modern hardware, with unofficial tools or future game ports as the only likely workarounds.
