Overview
- The Pokémon Company announced this week that Pokémon Bank will stop operating on February 25, 2027 at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time, and after that date transfers from Bank to Pokémon HOME will no longer work.
- Players must move any creatures stored in Pokémon Bank into Pokémon HOME before the shutdown because transfers are one-way and Pokémon cannot be returned to legacy 3DS titles once migrated.
- Pokémon HOME will receive a October 2026 update that adds one-way linking for the Switch ports of FireRed and LeafGreen, gives a free Celebi to players who complete those Pokédexes, and allows Safari-ball Pokémon from Pokémon GO to transfer as Strange Balls.
- The October HOME update will raise Premium Plan storage from 6,000 to 9,000 Pokémon without changing the plan price to help users consolidate large collections before Bank closes.
- Shutting Bank severs the primary official route for moving creatures from many GBA/DS/3DS-era games to modern titles, putting certain event-only Pokémon, ribbons, titles, and cross-generation traits at risk of permanent loss unless reissued or the games are re-released.
