Overview
- On Thursday the WA Supreme Court sentenced Tobias Nuttall to life with a non-parole period of 18 years, with the term backdated to the August offence.
- Nuttall pleaded guilty earlier this year to killing his partner, Alisha Lauren Hendren-Krippner, who died of multiple stab wounds after the pair returned from a trip to Sydney in August 2025.
- Police found a 25-centimetre bloodstained dagger at the Bassendean home and court evidence included Nuttall’s emergency calls in which he admitted he had stabbed her.
- Defence material told the court Nuttall had severe amphetamine use, a history of childhood sexual abuse and chronic pain from a workplace injury, but the judge rejected claims of self-defence or that the victim had exercised coercive control.
- The sentence followed victim impact statements about the harm to Ms Hendren-Krippner’s family and led the victim’s former podcast, Waking World, to continue publishing without Nuttall.
