PMD Says Pakistan to Stay Mostly Dry as Nights Turn Colder, Karachi Remains Hot and Dry

A prevailing continental air mass is driving clear, dry conditions on the plains and keeping hilly and mountainous regions cold.

Overview

  • The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts mainly dry weather across most regions through the weekend, with continued cold in higher terrain.
  • Islamabad’s minimums are expected at 5–7°C on Saturday–Sunday and 4–6°C on Monday, while Rawalpindi is forecast at 9–11°C then 8–10°C.
  • Karachi is set for hot, dry conditions with a minimum around 16°C and a maximum near 35°C, and no significant chance of rain until next week.
  • Persistent dryness and clear skies are expected to lower night temperatures further, and patches of smog or shallow fog may develop over parts of Punjab.
  • After midweek rains, hail and hill snowfall in northern and northeastern districts, the latest readings show deep cold in the north, led by Leh at −6°C and Skardu at −4°C.
