Overview
- The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecast a fresh monsoon spell to start on Thursday, August 27, bringing rain, thunderstorms and strong winds to Islamabad and several other areas.
- Rawalpindi has declared a rain emergency after a week of heavy downpours that caused major disruption in Rawalpindi and Islamabad and increased concern about renewed flooding from the new spell.
- Hot, muggy conditions will continue in Karachi, Lahore and much of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with daytime highs in the mid-30s Celsius even where widespread rain is not expected.
