PMD Forecasts Feb. 16–17 Rain and Thunderstorms for Southern Pakistan as Cold, Dry Spell Persists

Overview

• Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is forecast across much of Balochistan from the evening or night of February 16 into February 17, including Quetta, Zhob, Khuzdar and coastal districts.
• Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Thatta, is expected to see rain and dust‑raising winds on February 17, with localized thunderstorms possible.
• Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is likely to receive light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in Waziristan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Kurram from late February 16 to February 17.
• PMD warns of isolated hail in northern Balochistan as well as Dera Ismail Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan, and advises farmers to protect standing crops.
• Elsewhere, a widespread cold and dry pattern persists, with very low nighttime temperatures in northern highlands and daytime gusts in parts of Punjab and Islamabad.
