Plymouth Acid Killing Trial Hears Threat Messages and Alleged Role of Ex-Wife

Prosecutors say the attack enforced a £120,000 drug debt allegedly directed by a dealer known as Frost.

Overview

  • Ten defendants are on trial at Winchester Crown Court over charges including murder, manslaughter, attempted kidnap and organised crime, and all deny the allegations.
  • The jury was shown messages in which Ryan Kennedy, known as Frost, threatened Danny Cahalane over the unpaid debt, including explicit death threats.
  • Prosecutors allege Paris Wilson acted as Frost’s contact in Plymouth, shared Cahalane’s whereabouts and discussed payment in texts to her mother.
  • The court heard a failed kidnap attempt on 19 January 2025 preceded the 21 February break-in when sulphuric acid was thrown on Cahalane at his Plymouth home.
  • Cahalane died in hospital on 3 May 2025 after about ten weeks of treatment, and Kennedy is said to be abroad in Dubai and is not charged in this case.
