Overview
- Plus Power’s Cross Town Energy Storage facility in Gorham is now operating and is described by the company as the largest standalone battery on the ISO New England grid.
- The installation provides 175 MW and 350 MWh of storage and connects beside Central Maine Power’s congested 115‑kV Moshers substation to ease bottlenecks and enable better use of Northern Maine wind.
- Governor Janet Mills praised the project for expected cost savings during high-demand periods and for advancing Maine’s targets of 400 MW of storage and higher renewable shares by 2030.
- The site uses 156 units of Sungrow’s PowerTitan system and was built with Maine-based contractor Cianbro.
- Plus Power says Cross Town and its Cranberry Point battery in Massachusetts were fully available during a recent winter storm, and it reports Cranberry Point supported ISO‑NE during a June 2025 scarcity event.
