Overview
- Google is adding user-recorded greetings to Take a Message in the Phone by Google app, which answers calls and shows live transcripts when you cannot pick up.
- A banner in the app’s Home tab invites users to try the feature, and the option also appears under Settings > Take a Message > Greetings.
- People can record multiple clips up to one minute long, then rename, delete, or set one as the default using a new Material 3 recorder and management screen.
- For now there is only one greeting for all callers, with outlets noting that per-contact greetings are not available and are only a potential future addition.
- Availability is rolling out through Google Play with reports of the feature in beta version 216 on Pixel phones, and stable access appears uneven across users.
