CHIP still steers budget buyers to the cheaper 9a for better value.

Overview

  • In CHIP's controlled test with 60 Hz at 200 nits over LTE tasks, the Pixel 10a ran 19 hours 52 minutes versus about 17 hours for the 9a.
  • Google said the gain comes from software changes plus hardware updates that include a new modem, though it has not detailed the parts.
  • Despite near-identical design, cameras, display, battery size, and processor, the 10a also adds Bluetooth 6.0 and satellite emergency calling.
  • The 10a launches at €549 while the 9a sells for roughly €200 less, and CHIP advises choosing the 9a unless the gap shrinks to about €50.
  • Separately, CHIP gave the Pixel 10 Pro a Design Award for its restrained look but flagged weak ecological responsibility and repairability.
