Overview
- The single-engine Beechcraft BE36 went down around 5:30 p.m. Sunday southwest of Olympic Valley while inbound to Truckee Tahoe Airport.
- The FAA said only the pilot was on board, and local authorities confirmed the pilot was found deceased at the scene.
- Dispatchers received an Apple crash alert near the time the aircraft disappeared from radar, which helped pinpoint the location.
- Placer County search-and-rescue teams, assisted by the California Highway Patrol, located the wreckage in remote, difficult terrain and flew some crew to the site.
