Philadelphia Warehouse Loses 1,800 Cases of Bourbon in Daytime Theft

The haul has put a small spirits company under severe financial strain as law enforcement probes a suspected coordinated cargo operation

Overview

  • A 21 Wine and Spirits says thieves removed 1,800 cases of Noble Oak bourbon, stored on 18 pallets, from an American Supply warehouse in Fair Hill in a daytime pickup that company leaders call a coordinated cargo theft.
  • The company values the missing inventory at about $500,000 and says the loss is a major blow to its roughly 12–15 person operation that has been expanding and acquiring brands.
  • Company officials say the pallets were loaded after a truck driver presented identification but did not have a purchase order, and they do not believe the theft was an opportunistic grab.
  • The Philadelphia Police Department and the FBI are involved in the investigation and A 21 Wine and Spirits is working with investigators to recover the bourbon and identify suspects.
  • Officials warn the stolen bottles could appear through unauthorized resale channels such as secondary wholesalers or online marketplaces, and they ask businesses and consumers to report any suspicious offers for large quantities.
