PG&E Outages Leave More Than 30,000 Without Power Across Northern California

PG&E will begin restoring service only after its weather team issues an all-clear that lets crews re-energize lines safely.

Overview

  • PG&E reported more than 30,000 customers without electricity after preventive shutoffs meant to lower wildfire risk during dry, windy weather.
  • The utility’s outage center showed 30,939 customers affected across 633 outages, a total that includes both planned shutoffs and weather-caused failures.
  • Public Safety Power Shutoff requirements stayed in effect for parts of 15 counties, including Alameda, Napa, Solano and Sonoma.
  • The National Weather Service maintained fire danger alerts with north to northeast winds of 15 to 30 mph and gusts up to 50 to 60 mph in exposed areas.
  • Crews will start repairs and turn lines back on only after a weather all-clear, and PG&E urged people to use its outage map for address-specific updates.
