Overview
- Gillette will repurchase 232 A Street beside its Fort Point campus to house a global headquarters and Technical Innovation Center that includes a new waterfront park.
- The nearly $1 billion outlay covers land acquisition, construction and equipment, and the company has not disclosed what it will pay to buy back the site.
- Breakthrough Properties previously secured BPDA approvals for a roughly 324,000–325,000 square foot lab-and-office project on the parcel after buying it from P&G in 2021, but construction never began as the life-sciences market cooled.
- P&G aims to start building the nine-story headquarters next year, with plans that include more than an acre of public open space along the Fort Point Channel and BPDA-approved underground parking for 125 vehicles.
- The company says it is not seeking city or state tax incentives, and the project is part of an estimated $1.5 billion Massachusetts investment that includes shifting razor manufacturing and hundreds of jobs to a new Andover facility and advancing a 31-acre South Boston campus redevelopment.
