PFL Announces Battle vs. Rosta to Headline Charlotte Card

The promotion says the bout is a redemption test that could reposition contenders in its crowded middleweight division.

Overview

  • PFL announced on June 17 that Bryan Battle will face Dalton Rosta as the headliner of PFL Charlotte on Aug. 7 at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.
  • The promotion also confirmed two other middleweight fights for the card: Josh Silveira vs. Aaron Jeffery and Josh Fremd vs. Jhony Gregory, with prelims streaming on the ESPN app at 7:00 p.m. ET and the main card airing on ESPN at 10:00 p.m. ET.
  • Battle is a former UFC fighter who left that promotion in 2024 after recurring weight issues and lost his PFL debut to Johnny Eblen in March; Rosta is a former Bellator contender who has suffered recent knockout defeats to Fabian Edwards and Impa Kasanganay.
  • PFL CEO John Martin described Battle–Rosta as a chance for both men to rebound and said a win would put a fighter back into the middleweight conversation, a framing that ties the bout to divisional rankings rather than a title bout.
  • The card comes after PFL added several ex-UFC and ex-Bellator fighters to the roster since 2025 and sits between an interim middleweight title fight in July and the rest of the PFL season, so results in Charlotte could affect future title positioning and matchmaking.
