Overview
- Representatives of the Economy and Energy ministries, acting as Petroperú’s shareholders, removed Elba Rojas and named Edgar Leonidas Zamalloa Gallegos board president effective March 7, according to a market filing to the SMV.
- The universal session held March 6 also reshaped the board with the removals of Edilfredo Elías More Bayona and Jesús Valentín Ramírez Gutiérrez and the earlier formalized resignation of Raúl Jaime Anccasi.
- New directors were appointed: Julio César de la Rocha Corzo and Miguel Alberto Flores Bahamonde as independent members, and Carlos Adrián Linares Peñaloza and Carlos Augusto Villalobos Dulanto as non-independent members.
- Zamalloa was also incorporated as an independent director, and Linares returns to the board after serving as Petroperú’s chair between March and June 2024.
- The appointment makes Zamalloa the 12th board president in roughly five years, as the refreshed leadership confronts fuel shortages tied to the Megantoni gas duct rupture and works to complete the Talara refinery’s full commissioning within an ongoing restructuring.
