Peter Remmert Loaned From Schalke to MSV Duisburg

Schalke has sent the 20-year-old to Duisburg for one season to secure him regular senior minutes while the club trims its post-promotion roster.

Overview

  • Schalke 04 and MSV Duisburg confirmed on Tuesday that Remmert has joined Duisburg on a season-long loan with no purchase option.
  • The club-level move follows a season in which Remmert missed long stretches with a sprained ankle, muscle and ligament problems and then spent most of the second half with Schalke’s U23.
  • Schalke coach Miron Muslic publicly said in April that Remmert had not been part of the first-team group since January, a development that reduced his path into the Bundesliga squad.
  • MSV describe Remmert as a physically strong, dynamic pressing centre-forward who will help replace outgoing attackers and also count toward the squad’s U-23 quota.
  • Schalke keeps the player’s rights and views the loan as a development step; the immediate things to watch are Remmert’s minutes and form in the 3. Liga and whether regular play restores his pre-injury momentum.
