- His family confirmed to dpa that he died at age 86 at his home in Berlin on Monday.
- Radunski served nearly a decade as CDU federal general secretary from 1981, steering Bundestag campaigns in 1983, 1987 and 1990 and European elections in 1984 and 1989.
- He earlier led the CDU’s public relations from 1973 under Helmut Kohl’s leadership, managing the 1976 and 1980 Bundestag campaigns and the 1979 European election.
- After the CDU’s 1990 win in Berlin, he became Senator for Federal and European Affairs in 1991 before taking over the science, research and culture portfolio.
